SHAH ALAM, March 17 - Rotten odors and unpleasant scenes haunt visitors to a recreational park in Section 7 here.

This is because the lake in the recreation park is now tainted by the littering of the eye.

A visitor, Muhammad Muaz Dahari, 28, said he was disappointed that the recreational park which was the focus of the locals was not awake.

In fact, he said, local authorities of the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) were seen failing to perform the task of cleaning up immediately.

"Before this, the recreation area was clean and calm but recently, especially after the rain, the situation was getting worse.

"The PBT should be focused on the level of cleanliness in the area as it is a place for the public to play," he said when met by Utusan Malaysia here today.

Meanwhile, Yellamalai Palasamy, 58, blamed the attitude of visitors who were disrespectful and did not keep clean public hygiene.

"The level of hygiene in this unsatisfactory recreational park clearly demonstrates the lack of civic awareness among the people of this country.

"Although the majority of the nation's citizens have been given good education, their civic consciousness is still at a low level," said the retiree.

Undergraduates of Civil Engineering at Universi Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Muhammad Taqiyuddin Yusof, 23, said that it should not arise about the unsatisfactory level of hygiene given the country's status as a rapidly developing country.

The teenager from Kuantan, Pahang also pointed at the contractor appointed by PBT for failing to perform their duties well.

"I'm disappointed because every time I see the state of this recreation park filled with rubbish and an unpleasant smell.

"The way the contractors responsible for the hygiene of these recreational parks can be disputed as they clearly prove to be failing to perform their duties well," he explained.

Another visitor, Asmawi Ahmad, 35, said although the recreational park was disgusting and dirty, it was still visited by the public because of its location near their residential area.

"I hope the responsible party can act so that the recreational park can be clean and calm as usual," he said.

Meanwhile, Utusan Malaysia's survey in the recreational park found that, after the rainy season, the rubbish that filled the lake was flooded into the cliffs.

The situation is getting worse when local authorities fail to clear the garbage immediately until it creates a bad smell.
